Anyone been to any wine tours in the Okanagan?
I was planning on going November 11st long weekend. I was thinking about staying at the El Dorado Hotel. My research into bed & breakfasts turned me off because they were either basic, expensive or a room in someone's house.
Any suggestions for wine tours, places to stay or feedback on Quail's Gate wine tour or the El Dorado Hotel would be greatly appreciated.

Fri, October 21, 2005 - 6:24 PMYeah, summerhill winery is wicked cool.. If you bump in the owner Stephen tell him Patrick sent you... Lot's of neat stuff there going on other than making wine.. They have a large patch of forest that they are keeping green and a traditional pit hut.... There is talk about getting a projector to project mandalas onto the side of the pyramid so that they can be seen from all over.. woooo -

Re: Wine tours in the Okanagan
Wed, November 23, 2005 - 10:50 AMWe tried for Quail's Gate, but we ended up touring Summerhill. It was the only one still giving tours in the fall season. Quail's Gate laughed at us on the phone when we asked.
Steve was a great tour guide and host. The wine tasting was fabulous (as were the ice wines). We ended up buying a box among the four of us.
We also tasted at Cedar Creek and bought a few bottles.
We stayed at the Eldorado on the new side. Loved the room and the deck. Our friends had a jacuzzi tub in the old section. The old decor was very English traditional, but the jetted tub was wonderful with glasses of wine.
The hotel Sunday brunch was spectacular! We are already thing about going back with some more couples in the spring.

Sat, March 10, 2007 - 4:04 PMMt Boucherie Winery on the westside of Kelowna off Boucherie road, There are also a few on Lakeshore Rd
Try the Manteo Resort next to the Eldorado-nice rooms, very nice staff and the Wild Apple Gril has food that is very good.
I know several people that work at the Manteo Resort. Stay away from the cheap motels along Hwy 97 except for the Days Inn and Super 8-I know people that work there also.
I have a great room for B&B but- it's in my home, and my business partner is a red seal chef with food to die for-heavenly and ever so thoughtfully prepared.
